Today is Aaliyah’s birthday. American recording artist, actress and model Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. So the January 16th marks both the nationwide opening of the Biggie biopic Notorious and what would have been the 30th birthday of Aaliyah. Both of them spent too-short time on the planet but they were very talented. In 1994, the R&B singer and actress Aaliyah released her platinum debut album Age Ain’t Nothin’ But a Number.
The beautiful and young actress died in a plane crash in 2001. That time she was on the peak of her career and her last album Aaliyah went gold within a month of its release. Her friends like Timbaland and Missy Elliott still miss her and reference her in their work. Even after her death a host of famous names including Rosario Dawson, Quincy Jones, Missy, Jay-Z and Toni Braxton filmed a video of five top hits “Miss You” just to pay tribute to baby girl.
