Rating: 3.5/5.0

Story: Narasimha (Surya) is a strict Sub-Inspector with a good heart who is posted in his native village razole. Kavya (Anushka) is the daughter a great businessman (Nasser) and comes for vacation to the village. After coming across his good nature, she falls for him and even he does. Purushottam (Prakash Raj) is a notorious gangster who threatens people by kidnapping their kids. The story takes a twist once they both meet. What happens after that forms the rest?

Performances: Surya is fantastic and his body language is perfect. Anuskha was good and she suited well to the role. Prakash Raj once again delivers a powerful performance. Vivek’s comedy is okay. Vijay Kumar, Nassar, Radha Ravi supported well with other artists. Cinematography and editing are good. Music by Devi Sri Prasad was okay. A Couple of songs were hum able. Story is simple and the screenplay is good. Direction was good in parts.

Analysis: This film is Surya’s 25th film and is the dubbed version of Tamil film SINGAM. Surya is outstanding with his flawless performance. He has taken a lot of care in his physic and body language. Dialogue delivery was good. His recent flicks didn’t do well at the Box office-so he has taken more care it seems. Anushka was okay as the heroine, she gets more footage. She appeared bit fat in a couple of scenes (put on some weight). The scene where she inspires Surya has come out well. Prakash Raj as usual does an amazing job as the villain. His voice (not dubbed by him) was not effective. Vivek’s comedy will bring a smile to your face .There are a number of supporting actors like Vijay Kumar, Nassar, Radha ravi , Manorama who have done justice to the story.

Hari keeps a tight rein on the screenplay throughout. Hari has penned such a screenplay, which has the right mix of action, fun, frolic, emotions and romance. Hari once again proved that he can do magic with fast paced Screenplay and narration. Cinematography and editing have been put to use with the best results as these technical arenas added momentum to the screenplay. The previous flick (‘AARU’) in the combination of Surya and Hari was just Average. He has taken a lot of care in every minute thing.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is Average, some songs sound good. Devi as usually repeats and rehashes his own tunes and all the songs sound (orchestrisation) familiar. The background Score can be better. Cinematography and editing are good.

The first half is a little slow but the second half is far more powerful than the first half. The first 30 minutes of the movie runs very slow once Prakash Raj and Surya’s combination scenes begin the movie picks up momentum.

The movie may attract B, C Centers. We have to wait and see how it fares at the A Centers. The Movie is a typical Mass Masala one with right mix of commercial elements.

Plus: Screenplay, Performances

Minus: First half is slow

Verdict: YAMUDU is worth a watch, Average Commercial and Mass Entertainer.
