Karthik Calling Karthik preview : A shy, gutless guy incredibly short of confidence seems destined to mediocrity of mundane, monotonous life of many an unfulfilled desire, but then one day he gets a call from his namesake and everything changes thereafter.
Karthik Calling Karthik is a coming of age story, a romantic thriller, starring Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Ram Kapoor, Vivan Bhatena, Vipin Sharma, Yateen Karyekar and Shifaali Shah in a special appearance.
The movie is directed by Vijay Lalwani who’s also penned the story, screenplay and dialogues. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are the producers.
Farhan as Karthik
Karthik is an introvert by nature and shy by choice. He suffers from huge confidence issues and is miserable at his just average job that yields for him less than average results.
Deepika as Shonali
Shonali is an upwardly mobile, uber-cool, modern, confident, sassy, self-dependant woman. She works in the same office as Karthik.
Synopsis
Karthik’s boss treats him like dirt. Shonali (Deepika Padukone), his colleague who he secretly loves, isn’t even aware that he exists. In a nutshell, Karthik is a loser. He knows it and accepts it.
Karthik believes his life can’t get any better. But then, suddenly one night, it happens: the phone rings. And Karthik speaks to someone he never thought he would.
The man on the other end of the phone line also claims to be Karthik. He tells Karthik, the loser, that he’s here to change his life for better.
Karthik accepts the phone in his life and soon it becomes his guide, his mentor, his friend, his guardian. And most importantly it becomes the ticket to the love of his life, Shonali. Thereafter, Karthik’s life changes in ways he hadn’t imagined.
